World Water Week – Stockholm, Sweden
[Stockholm City Conference Center, Room FH 307]
Side Event: Financing Sustainable Growth in the Jordan Valley (Jordan, Palestine, Israel)
This event included a presentation of the Master Plan as well as SIWI’s joint infrastructure financial vehicle, a financing proposal designed to host a wide range of investments that provide shared benefits and sustainable growth across transboundary basins.
A panel discussion followed with representatives from the World Bank and other IFI’s.
Background about the event:
From 2012-2015, EcoPeace Middle East, together with partners from the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and Global Nature Fund (GNF), developed a Regional NGO Master Plan for Sustainable Development in the Jordan Valley.
This plan, developed with the support of the European Union and issued by RHDHV Consultants, provides the first-ever effort to synergize data and catalog the necessary interventions for sustainable development and regional management in the Jordan Valley on a wide range of critical areas.
To date, the Regional NGO Master Plan has been presented at regional and national events earning the support from national ministries in all three countries. This event serves to consider financing scenarios to implement the identified interventions – traditional, non-traditional and innovative.
